Memories of driving my first stick-shift

Okay first off, its been a long minute since I’ve been using tumblr. I remember quitting it for lent, and I successfully gave it up for 40 days. Yay me! The reason I decided to do so was because my dashboard is filled with naked girls. Very exhausting… haha jokes! I went through my following list and tried to remove some of the obscene pages. But yeah, back to the topic. The reason why I decide to write about driving my first stick shift is because lately I’ve been thinking about it and I thought it is funny and worth sharing. It brings a smile to my face every time, no kidding.

I got my license when I was 16 1/2. I was a sophomore. My first car was a Nissan Maxima, a hand me down from my dad. It was a good car. I had it for 3 years. It was automatic of course. It didn’t matter at the time but I always wanted a manual car. Most of my buddies drove a manual in high school and it was just so much cooler. So I was envious of them and when I’m riding in their cars I felt the thrill of stick shifting and the gas guzzling noises really excited me. I made a promise to myself that my next car would be a stick shift! When that time came, I went car shopping with my brother in law. Mind you… he doesn’t know how to drive a manual and me with very limited knowledge too. All I knew was how to start the car and kind of drove slowly. We came to this car dealer on Coliseum Road. If I remember correctly it was Car Image or something. The guy was busy so he decided to make a copy of my driver license and handed me the keys to this Acura RSX Type S I wanted to try out. I was hella excited because this was the car that I wanted. At that moment in time it did not matter to me that I don’t know how to drive it. I got in with my brother in law and we drove it out of there. Oh my I did not know how I drove out of the car dealer onto the busy Coliseum Road. Then I came to a hill. With my poor shifting skills it was impossible for me to get over the damn hill. I stalled so much and I was doing 5th gear on a steep hill! Finally I heard a crank and the car shut down and started rolling back. Luckily I had my foot brake on and then hand brake. The road wasn’t busy so lucky me. Another truck came behind and asked if I needed some help. He got in the car and tried to start it with no luck. He said the tranny is messed up…

Oh boy, I ended up calling the dealer and he came by to pick us up. I told him I didn’t know what happened and then left as soon as I could. Never called back. Hahha.
